The application

Exhaust gas emissions monitoring has become increasingly important as environmental legislation tightens on shipping.

Cascade Technologies now provides onboard NO, NO2, SO2 and CO2 measurements in accordance with Annex VI of MARPOL NOx Technical Code, MEPC 103(49) regulations and helps increase engine efficiency through monitoring.

These regulations apply to all ships and platforms above 400T constructed after 1st January 2000.

The Cascade Emission Monitoring System will allow ship owners and operators to demonstrate their compliance to the NOx technical code through direct and continuous measurements at the stack.

This method is considered as the preferred option by many as it avoids the expensive "parameter check" survey which can cause heavy disruptions.

Additionally, the measurements of NO, NO2 and CO2 together with other engine parameters can be used to improve engine efficiency and save significant amounts on fuel costs.
